Meet The Founder of House of Zampelas
House of Zampelas Counselling was created from a deep belief that people deserve to be met with dignity, compassion and genuine human connection — especially during seasons of pain, uncertainty and personal struggle. My journey into counselling grew from a desire to
create a calm and grounded space where individuals feel safe to be heard, understood and supported without judgement.
I have always been drawn to people’s stories, resilience and capacity for growth, particularly within communities that have experienced hardship, trauma, displacement or disconnection. Through both personal and professional experiences, I came to recognise how deeply
healing can be shaped not only by the individual, but also by relationships, culture, identity, family and community.
My vision for House of Zampelas Counselling is to provide more than just therapy sessions. I wanted to create a reflective and restorative environment built on hope, dignity and meaningful care — a space that feels warm, human and deeply respectful of each person’s lived
experience. This vision has also been strongly influenced by my passion for supporting Indigenous communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Māori and Pacific Islander communities, while welcoming people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
I am a Māori-born, Australian-raised woman with a deep passion for genealogy, history and identity, and the important role these play in shaping our sense of belonging, connection and understanding of self. I have often reflected on how our stories, family histories, culture and life experiences influence the way we see ourselves and move through the world.
With over 20 years of experience in the logistics and leadership industry, I have had the privilege of supporting people through training, mentoring, development planning and professional growth. Helping people build confidence, learn new skills and move forward in their personal or professional lives has always been deeply meaningful to me. I also understand how career stress, burnout, workplace pressure and feeling “stuck” can impact emotional wellbeing and identity.
My counselling approach is compassionate, trauma-informed and person-centred, drawing from evidence-informed therapies while remaining grounded, practical and collaborative. I have experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, addiction, homelessness, domestic and family violence, complex mental health challenges, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional overwhelm and suicidal ideation.
As a Christian woman, my faith has sustained me through difficult seasons in life and continues to shape my values of compassion, hope, humility and care. For clients seeking Christian counselling, I am happy to provide a supportive space where life’s challenges, meaning, faith and personal growth can be explored from a Christian perspective while always respecting each person’s autonomy, beliefs and journey.
As a counsellor, I consider it a genuine honour when people feel safe enough to invite me into their vulnerable space by sharing their story, thoughts and emotions. Counselling sessions are guided by your individual needs, goals and priorities, moving at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
Healing often happens through safe relationships, meaningful connection and being genuinely heard. I believe every person carries a story that is still unfolding. Some chapters may hold pain, uncertainty, grief or experiences we wish had never happened but they do not have to define the rest of the story. Counselling can provide a space to reflect, heal, rebuild hope and move toward meaningful change together, one step at a time.
